Future Student Updates (COVID-19)

International College Portsmouth

Online Courses

We understand that a great number of prospective students are affected by the spread of the Covid-19 in different ways including not being able to sit for final exams, unable to take an English Language test (IELTS, TOEFL or other), unable to travel due to government restrictions and others.

To protect your health and wellbeing ICP and the University of Portsmouth remain closed until further notice. We know this is very frustrating and may affect your study plans if you were hoping to start your university pathway this year. In order to continue supporting you, we are delighted to announce that we have decided to run our summer semester online.

Mode of delivery

While online classes are a bit different, as you are not face-to-face with the teacher, we use Zoom, Moodle and other technology to ensure that you still learn the same skills and knowledge, you still engage, interact and discuss during the classes and outside them. You will also still have the same high-quality teachers, many of whom teach at the University as well, so they know exactly what you need to progress to your chosen degree programme at the University of Portsmouth.

Types of learning

  • Synchronous learning – real-time virtual classroom environment delivered on Zoom.  This session will take place in the GMT+1 time zone between 09:00 – 19:00 and follow the normal College timetabling principles.  Students must be online at the specific time and for the full duration of the virtual classroom and actively engage with questions, tasks and tests.
  • Asynchronous learning – lecturers will provide materials, recorded lectures, tests, and assignments, which can be accessed at any time.  Students have 24 hours from the time of the virtual class to engage with these activities and evidence as such to their lecturer.

 Why study online?
