Future Student Updates (COVID-19)

International College Portsmouth

What will happen at Orientation?

Congratulations on your unconditional offer and deciding to join ICP.  We are so excited for you to join us and the ICP family cannot wait to meet you!

Orientation is your introduction to ICP, the city and studying at Higher Education level.

Before your lessons start

BRP Collection

Once you have applied for a visa, your BRP will be available for collection at either the local post office or the Nuffield Center at the University of Portsmouth. If your point of collection is the post office please collect it prior to registration at ICP. Please note if you are aged under 18, you will need a registered  accompanying adult to take with you to collect your BRP. Follow the link below to register this person www.biometric-residence-permit

Student Card

You need to register as a University of Portsmouth Student and apply for your Student ID card. First you will need to register as a student through your student account, to get your university computer username and password. You will need your date of birth and your student ID, which you'll find on your Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) letter, not your ICP ID. Then you can proceed to apply for your Student ID Card online which will save you time and allow you to upload your favourite photo. This gives you access to the free University bus, University library and discounts .

We will check all your documents and confirm your programme, you will get your timetable for the semester and be introduced to the ICP Virtual Learning Environment.  During registration there will be ICP students on hand in green t-shirts so please feel free to ask them questions.

Bank Letter

ICP will provide information to help you open a UK bank account. You will need to provide proof of your UK address before you can apply. Setting up a bank account will take up to three weeks after arrival so please ensure you have adequate funds to support yourself in the interim.

Police Registration

Students from certain countries will usually need to register with the UK police within seven days of their arrival. You should check the student visa sticker in your passport to see whether or not you are required to register. If you need to register, do not worry, our Student Services will arrange this for you once you enrol on your course and provide you with more information about the process. If you are unsure whether you are required to register with the Police or not we can discuss this during your registration.

First two weeks

Campus tour - One of our current or graduated ICP students will show you around the campus. They will show you the library, Student’s Union, lecture buildings and sports grounds.

Student Services Introduction - You will meet a member of the Student Services Team and will receive a brief introduction of who we are and how we can help.

College Director Introduction - the College Director will introduce you to the College and outline our partnership over the next semester and how we will work together to ensure you have the best experience possible.

Events - We have a jam packed event schedule for students in the first two weeks.  From bowling, film nights, sports sessions to shopping in Gunwharf; we have something going on for everyone.

Student Union - The Sabbatical Officers from the University will introduce you to the array of sports, societies, volunteering and media opportunities you can get involved in.

Welcome Party - ICP will host a welcome party to round up orientation which is for all new ICP students.  This is a great opportunity to meet fellow new students and make friends for life!
