Student Council

The Student Council strives to continuously improve the student experience at ICP. It is an important link between the students, the staff that teach you and the College structure itself. Three students represent the different stages at ICP, giving a truly representative view of the student body. Also on the Student Council is

• College Director/Principal
• Director of Academic and Support Services
• Manager of Academic Services
• Marketing Officer
• Student Services Officer
• A selection of ICP’s Academic Sessionals

The Student Council meets twice a semester to discuss the views and opinions of the student body, in week 4 and week 12. We want to hear if we are doing things right, wrong or simply need to improve upon. We value any feedback we receive and always endeavour to follow up any comments we receive. Since the Student Council was introduced in June 2011, numerous improvements have been made on the suggestion of the Student Council.

The Student Council members receive tailor-made training provided by the University of Portsmouth Students Union.

The Stage 1 (University Foundation) and Stage 2 (First Year Degree) Student Council members are elected at the end of the previous semester by the student body. They have been at ICP for at least one semester so are a great port of call for information. The pre-sessional English and post-graduate council members are elected in the semester they arrive due to the length of the programme.

If you want to make a difference at ICP, you can apply to be a Student Council member for the forthcoming semester in week 6. A member of the University of Portsmouth Student’s Union will provide you support during your campaign and explain the voting process.
