What?

Undergraduate Pathway in Engineering

Students can enter at Stage 1 (University Foundation) and are guaranteed progression to the second year of a relevant degree, providing that progression criteria are met. Stage 1 takes place at ICP using dedicated lecturers and benefit from small class sizes. Stage 2 takes place in the University of Portsmouth directly, supported with tutorials at ICP

The Faculty of Technology provides an extensive variety of specialist courses, including Civil Engineering, Petroleum Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. With cutting-edge laboratories, close relationships with industry and excellent teaching on offer, University of Portsmouth students receive the very best start to their chosen career. All pathways can contain an optional 'sandwich' year in industry where students can gain invaluable, practical work experience. Those who undertake this year are amongst the most highly sought-after when seeking employment.

Civil Engineering

The Department has a variety of laboratories for materials and structures testing, fluid flow modeling and geotechnical investigation. Portsmouth has a long-established network of civil engineering consulting and contracting organisations that provide real-world case studies, curriculum advice and feedback on student's work.

Electronic and Computer Engineering

The Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering is placed 2nd in The Times league table 2009 for satisfaction for electrical engineering related degrees and 6th place in the Unistats league table for student satisfaction for electronic and computer engineering related degrees.

Mechanical and Design Engineering

The Department provides a thriving and exciting learning environment for students and recognises that engineering management and technology provides a more creative aspect in the field of engineering. Throughout their studies students will face exciting technical and business challenges and will develop their skills in scientific understanding and risk taking whilst experiencing working as part of a team.

Petroleum Engineering

Global economic growth is highly dependent on the long-term supply of oil and gas. Currently, there is a major international shortage of qualified engineers in the petroleum industry and this new course has been designed to produce graduates who wish to take advantage of the exciting and highly rewarding career prospects in this area.
